Racial wealth gap widens ... and engulfs the Black and Hispanic population

Only Whites left with a foot to stand on ....

Most well-said point to me was:

"Typically in recessions, minorities suffer from being last hired and first fired. They are likely to lose jobs more rapidly at the beginning of the recession, and are far slower to gain jobs as the economy recovers," said Harrison, who is now a sociologist at Howard University. "One suspects that blacks who lost jobs in the recession, or who have tried to help family members or relatives who did, have now spent whatever savings or other cashable assets they had."

It is 2011 and when you stretch out your hand for help, it still matters which color hand stretches back!

Diversity ... is so important! And not at the face value either.
I went to a college with a diverse population, but you go to the cafeteria and the sports courts and it's still a nice surprise when you see interracial friendships/groups. Separate but unequal has become hidden under the diversity facade. Proximity and Propinquity is not diversity! Nor does it guarantee diversity. Let us all think and observe with a critical eye, and turn it upon ourselves as well so that we may actually live in the reality we absentmindedly envision we live in.
